Not long now

Saturday 31st will arrive before I know it. Daily life continues apace and all the extra things - like packing - need to be fitted in too. Mega house cleaning will be needed too as I have a couple of young friends house sitting for me. Shopping today - a couple of new tops and a couple of bits and pieces of gifts for friends overseas. Something else ticked off the list!

Telephone Talk

My phone card has been invaluable lately as I have been ringing my friends in England - only 1.5 cents a minute with a Chit Chat card and getting all prepared to visit. It makes me very happy to feel so welcome. I had my Flu Vac and a Typhoid vaccination last week - the first really serious bit of preparation since buying my tickets. Of course I don't need Typhoid for England, but it is recommended for Israel.
I've also been doing a fair bit of reading to learn about Israel. I was most interested to discover that Hebrew was "rescued" from being a dead language (like Latin) by a man called Ben Yehuda at the end of the 19th century. He (and others) had to invent new words for new things like electricity and bicycles. He and his wife had 11 children and insisted that they all speak nothing but Hebrew.

Tara won't be coming with me this time. I will miss her but it is not worth the stress for her or the cost for me to have her come for the short time I will be boating.

Setting off soon

I'm looking forward to returning to England from Australia for a six week journey on the canals on my boat Wonthaggi. I have never tried a Blog before, but this might be the opportunity to share my travels with friends.
